You’ll know from my previous post that we were waiting for more blossoms to appear, and were expecting them any day after the heavy rains at the beginning of June. Unfortunately, that one tiny clump of white blossoms that showed up in May was the only one on our entire rows of saskatoons!
We did some research and found that there are a number of reasons that saskatoons won’t blossom, but the two that resonated the most were “fluctuating temperatures and drought”. We definitely experienced both of those this spring!
As a result, we will not be open for u-pick of saskatoons this summer. This is very disappointing for us, and I know it will be for those of you who have enjoyed coming out to our farm in the past. We will try to plan for a few days that people will still be able to come and enjoy spending some time out at our place, and I’ll be sure to let you know once I have the dates chosen.
