Picking was fantastic this u-pick year, starting on July 20th and ending August 15th for our regular hours, then we had some additional times for picking sour cherries, officially ending August 31st. This was probably our longest season, likely stretched out because of the many cool and rainy days this summer.
So many blessings this year: Numerous buckets were filled with saskatoons, raspberries and sour cherries; batches and batches of scones and pie pockets were enjoyed on site as well as taken to families back home, along with pies, crisps and muffins; visitors came and went–many returning several times, and many visiting for the first time; family members pitched together to help with everything from giving introductions to our u-pick, to serving ice cream and the baking, to weighing the fruit and doing the check-outs, to keeping that flow of fresh baking going, to ensuring the washrooms were clean and ready for crowds, introducing visitors to our chickens and goats, and anything else that needed to be done. We hit a new record for the number of visitors and sales in one day, and overall had an awesome season!
Have I mentioned what a privilege it is for us to welcome so many people to our farm during this short u-pick season we have? We are extremely thankful for each and every one of you! Take care until we meet again….perhaps at our next Winter Festival?
