Hi everyone! What a wonderful crop of saskatoons this year! I hope many of you have had a chance to come out and get your yearly quota of the delicious saskatoons. There are still lots of saskatoons for you to pick, but we are also running our harvester and Sunday, July 30th will be the last day for the u-pick.
If the timing has been wrong for you to be able to come pick your own saskatoons, we are planning to freeze some of our machine harvested and we will have some you can buy at a later point in the year.
There is always a really high demand for the sour cherries, and so many of you have called, messaged or emailed me trying to find a time to come pick them. Unfortunately, there never really has been a time when there are enough to make it worth a trip if they are all you are wanting. The few that are almost ready invariably get picked by those who are out for saskatoons and happen to see them and decide to get some. I’m sorry to disappoint you! We’ve been trying to get more growing, but our new row hasn’t started to produce yet. “Maybe next year,” is always the phrase I use, and surely one of these years it will happen!
